November Already - Doesn't Time fly
Hello again to everyone.
OKay, This is an exact copy of the blog that has been posted on the home page ...
User Group Virtual Meeting
If you remember last month I asked how many of you would be willing to try a virtual group meeting; The response I have to admit was quite surprising with 60% of people saying yes.
The good news is that we do listen, and appreciate that we have many users throughout the UK and Europe who cannot always attend the meetings, so on Tuesday 21st November we will be holding a Virtual Group Meeting at Microsoft in Reading employing MS LiveMeeting so there should be no worries if you cannot make Reading, or are stuck in the office.
I will pass out the meeting information via e-mail once they have been confirmed.
User Group EVO Day 24th January - TVP
Before I mention Vista, and Office 2007 being released to RTM, I need to mention that there will be a Combined User Group Day at Microsoft (TVP) on the 24th January.
The day will be open to everyone who wants to attend, whether they be a user or a techie. The intention is to introduce Exchange, Office & Vista to the user base; where Microsoft are pitching to the business decision makers.
We will post more information within the next couple of weeks; but I would be grateful if you could please keep your diary’s clear for the day which is the first time that the User Group Community has presented a combined open date.
Now for Office and Vista …
For those of you who have been watching the news from Microsoft recently will know that Office 2007, and Vista have now been released to manufacturer, (RTM). However, Communicator 2007 is still in Beta and will not be released until next year (2007). But once we have more information upon the product I’ll post it for you.
This is good news for those of us who hold either a TechNet, or Volume licensing agreement as we will begin to see the software arriving upon our desks within the next couple of weeks. Sadly everyone else will have to sit back and await Microsoft’s official “on-the-shelf” date. Depending upon which web site you read this date can range from mid-January to mid-February; with a couple of sites mentioning the end of January.
My guess, and it’s as good as anyone’s, is that you’ll start to see Vista on the shelf before February … potentially the last week of January … just watch this space.
Please be aware that on the 26th October Microsoft released a statement to the effect of “if you buy a version of Office 2003, or XP, then you will automatically receive a comparable version of 2007 and, or, Vista when it is released”. Not all retailers are covering this upgrade, so please make sure that you are covered before you buy.
If you need anything then please give me a shout.
