OKAY,
Belts and braces ... as they say
Hello
I'm not too sure whether many people have actually seen this release. But on the 13th July Microsoft announced that Virtual PC 2004SP1 is now available as a free download.
Microsoft have also stated that they will be offering the free download of "Virtual PC 2007, with support for Windows Vista in 2007". Sadly I am unable to find the download link for VPC2k7; so I must therefore believe that either someone has forgotten to upload the link or it will not be available until 2007 - possibly with the release of Vista.
The announcement was posted on the Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 site, whilst Virtual PC 2004SP1 can be downloaded by clicking upon this hyperlink, (or follow the links below) VPC2k4SP1
What is not mentioned, but is rumoured to be available towards the end of 2006, early 2007 is Virtual PC Express which will be included within Vista x64 & Server 2007. If the grapevine is to be believed then VPCEx will be free, (if not already included within the OE's), allowing a single instance of a Virtual Machine allowing the user to run all supported OE's including Linux
So why have I mentioned this ?
Well VPC is a very useful tool, and can be used for engineering, or testing, of products prior to deployment
Please let me know what you think
