    Roadmap for Unified Communications

    Roadmap for Unified Communications

On the 25th June Microsoft published the the  PressPass” unveiling the Unified Communications Product Roadmap and partner ecosystems.

James O’Neill has published some further information upon his WebLog which provide an outline upon the new roadmap

Okay, it sounds as though someone is trying to use techno babble to provide a clearer picture of the way ahead, (and that maybe I’m looking too far ahead); But In reality what it means to the user on the coalface is that they will be able to do everything from their desktop, (or laptop) system; and once we actually achieve a true mobile communications infrastructure, (WiMax), tied with the introduction of Origami then we will witness true mobile collaboration, presence with improved efficiency by using a single communications unit rather than the mobile & smart phones, PDA’s laptops ect that we currently expect our people to use today.

Although I could provide you with an information overload trust me “Simplification is the way-ahead” and it’s easier to watch the recording of Jeff Raikes’ Keynote presentation upon the future of Unified Communications at San Francisco on the 26th june . The presentation is just shy of 2 hours long, but worth listening to.
