    Who Are We ...

Microsoft Unified Communications & RTC User Group, UK,

    http://mucuguk.org/

    Hello,

Just a quick e-mail to introduce the Microsoft Unified Communications & RTC User Group, United Kingdom. The group was mentioned on Friday in Eileen Brown’s WebLog, under the heading of User groups leaders for user groups.

Since launching the group at the begining of June, we have received around 600 52 hits, and welcomed 16 new members.

What is the group about ?

The purpose of the group, it’s really a community, is to offer support and guidance to the user community from a user perspective; with the intention of Users helping Users; exchanging of information and experiences upon Microsoft Unified Communications, and Real-Time Collaborative solutions.

Please remember, that whilst Microsoft sponsor the Community, in that they provide us with technical support, and documentation as needed they have no governance or control over the community. In fact it is completely autonomous, an we receive no funding, or any other financial assistance from Microsoft – save for the provision of Beer, Pizza and possibly a few goodies that we are able to give away after meetings.

The products that we will cover are listed upon the “forums” page of Microsoft Unified Communications & RTC User Group, United Kingdom.

Please bear with both Russ & I, as we’ve only just launched the group, and will grow with time; answering as many questions, or queries as we can. If you stumble across a post for which you know the answer, please feel free to respond – this is the ethos of the community.

Because both the site and the community are open to everyone, (irrespective of age), then we ask that users respect each other and retain a modicum of decorum.

Will the Community be holding meetings ?

Yes, we are currently planning for our inaugural meeting just before the school holidays, (possibly 18th & 20th July), with one presentation taking place at Microsoft in Reading, and the other in London. Once we have confirmed the dates and times these will be published upon the site. From September we will be holding monthly meetings with guest speakers.

If you are retailing, or deploying a Microsoft unified messaging, or real-time collaborative system, (ie SharePoint, or telephone integration), or have experiences that you would like to share, and would like to present to the community, please give me a shout as there are a couple of rules that you will need to agree with first, being that …

The rules are that the presenter is allowed to state the company for which they work at the beginning of the presentation; and present the company upon the closing slide of the presentation. Although the presenter will be allowed to issue business cards, these can only be provided upon request by the guests. Neither will the presenter be permitted to actively tout for business.

This way we maintain the integrity of the community, as being independent.

Currently we have secured guest speakers for September, October, November, December, and February – January and March are still open at the moment.

I would be grateful if you could please take the time to browse the site, and join if you see fit; and pass the word around to anyone that you believe may be interested … it’s not just for Techies & Geeks, but Users as well …

    Many Thanks

    Arf’s
