    messenger for mac (corporate account)

a few colleagues and myself have been attempting to use messenger: corporate in our institution which heavily relies on IM for corporate communications (in fact we are not issued phones!)

The problem however is that although we login successfully, the status of other colleagues appears incorrectly. Some (5 -50) appear online, other (490+) appear offline. I have checked when individual users are definitely online, in most cases they appear offline in mac messanger client. However, mac-messenger users do appear online to PC messenger users, and may be contacted by them.

I have attempted a few things:
    - i successfully joined the corporate "active directory" using apple's "directory access"
    - i successfully login to my domain via kerberos
    - i tried authenticating in mac-messenger corporate via "use my nework ID", but this fails.
    - mac- messenger corporate network settings are set to "automatic"

    related services that do work:
    - entourage works perfectly (including shared calendars etc.)
    - i can access ldap global address book using apple's address book and entourage
    - all other network activity works fine ( web, mac messenger personal account etc.)

Any ideas on how to set up or debug this issue on a mac?
