History

MUCUGUK has been around in one form or another since 2006 and was founded by Russ & Arthur Pounder. The first website ran as a “Community server 2.0” site… if anyone remembers that from the internet’s deep & dark past?

The first event was held at Microsoft’s Pilteney Street office in July 2006 with the following agenda:

    Introductions
Overview of MSFT Unified Comms -  Eileen Brown, Microsoft
    LCS Deployment Case Study
Open discussion – Aims, objectives and future agendas

That was the hay day for IT Pro usergroups where support from Microsoft was plentiful. There was a blooming of all sorts of user groups including:

Access user group
SQL user Group
SharePoint user group
Windows Management group

Over the years MUCUGUK have held numerous events up and down the country always with the same goal in mind. That goal as expressed on the first version of this site still says it best of all:

The purpose of the group, it’s really a community, is to offer support and guidance to the user community from a user perspective; with the intention of Users helping Users; exchanging of information and experiences upon Microsoft Unified Communications, and Real-Time Collaborative solutions.
